BIO Mentors commit approximately 2 hours per week during a 12-week session.
It takes a team of dedicated volunteers to make BIO Girls a success. We're fortunate to have some of the best dedicating their time, talent, and positive energy to make the program great.
Please read below for more information about volunteer opportunities.
Site Directors spend approximately 10 hours per week conducting the 12-week program.
BIO Girls has additional volunteer opportunities on an as-needed basis:
As a BIO Girls Site Director, you commit to bringing the program to your community. BIO Girls supplies you with the curriculum, templates, technology and operational support so that you can do what you are passionate about - providing an important ministry to girls to build their confidence and reinforce their inner worth.
As a Site Director you conduct each session (12 total), secure mentors, a facility, promote the program, manage registration and raise the funds to support your local program all while upholding the mission, vision and values of BIO Girls. For more detailed information on bringing BIO Girls to your community, visit this page.
Each week the BIO Girl participants are divided into small groups and paired with adult mentors that reinforce the weekly lesson, lead group runs, lend a listening ear, and build lasting relationships. The participant/mentor ratio is typically 3:1, which fosters an inclusive environment.
Mentors are expected to participate in each of the 12 sessions during the program, run the 5K race, and read the lesson ahead of time to be prepared to lead the small group project or discussion.
